Description

The Cost Controller is responsible for the efficient and effective management of project cost control issues for designated projects.

As the Cost Controller you will:

  • Implement and maintain BGC standard cost control processes and procedures on designated projects;
  • Set up of the project estimate in Prism including alignment with BGC WBS and Cost Codes;
  • Link project schedule to control accounts in consultation with planning;
  • Set up the time-phase for the project budget in consultation with planning and the project team;
  • Identifies, tracks, analyses and presents project budget scope change variations and other issues that impact on the project budget;
  • In collaboration with the Project team, identifies any costs increases and reductions, rise and fall items, time impacts on contract program and impact on the overall business ;
  • Review earned value and productivity trends for designated projects and advise/implement required mitigation measures;  
  • Understands and identifies cash position of company i.e. positive or negative on a monthly basis and explores methods to improve the position;
  • Prepare and/or oversee the generation of cost reports from PRISM, if required, take part in briefing the project cost status to management during company’s monthly CV meetings;
  • Identify and Implement change management within PRISM to the necessary projects;
  • Assesses variation impacts on revenue and under/over claims and also classification as re-measure or stand-alone costs;
  • Assesses project under/over claim amounts for monthly report;
  • Assists in the review of project cost forecasts / cost to complete as utilised in the internal monthly report;
  • Assesses monthly progress claims under the head contract through data supplied by schedulers;
  • Assesses BOQ verification.
  • Prepare and/or oversee accurate raising/cost coding of Purchase Requisitions and Purchase Orders as required
  • Ensure/oversee the accurate cost checking and coding of invoices and overall integrity of the Project Accounts
  • Liaise and provide regular reporting as required by the Lead Cost Controller.

Other requirements:

  • Tertiary qualified;
  • Previous experience in a cost controller role preferably within the resources sector.
  • Previous experience with Prism G2 Project Cost Control Software and the interface with the ERP Software
  • Good understanding of Planning and Scheduling output.
