We are currently seeking a Senior Mining Engineer for our Iron Knob Operations. BGC Contracting is working with Arrium at this site to deliver production targets within a safe work environment.
The Senior Mining Engineer will report directly to the Senior Project Manager and is responsible for ensuring that project outcomes are met through an effective and efficient utilisation of resources in accordance with BGC Contracting procedures and client requirements. Specific responsibility is for the planning of safe and efficient mining, drilling and blasting operations and the accurate reporting of mine production statistics.
The Senior Mining Engineer needs to ensure mining superintendent, supervisors and operators are provided with accurate mining plans and that they fully understand the requirements of the mining plans. They will be also responsible for day to day planning of project; drill & blast operations including blast and tie in design and execution.
The successful candidate will require experience in an engineering role in a production mining environment, along with experience in drill & blast operations. They will require excellent computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Suite and Outlook, and experience using the following software packages: Surpac; XAct and Shot Plus. An Open or Restricted WA Quarry Managers Certificate of Competency is preferred but not essential.
This position is residential from the Whyalla region, therefore no FIFO or camp accommodation is provided.
