HSET Supervisor

BGC Contracting is currently seeking an experienced HSET Supervisor to join our SMR operations.

Working a 4/3 roster you will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Health, Safety, Environment, & Training Management System at the Project; promoting & encouraging Health, Safety, Environment, & Training awareness & a safe working culture amongst site personnel and assisting with training & implementation of safety initiatives.

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Facilitate the development of a safe working culture amongst personnel.
  • Promote Health, Safety, Environment, & Training awareness, accountability and responsibility.
  • Assist, coach and mentor supervision and direct reports.
  • Coordinate site inductions and follow up of the BGC TRISAFE awareness program.
  • Coordinate the Implementation and ongoing maintenance of the training for all employees.
  • Liaise with managers to develop and maintain training plans for their teams.
  • Preparation and maintenance of relevant safety documentation and records.
  • Report Health, Safety, Environment, & Training performance including trend analysis.
  • Facilitate the site Health, Safety, Environment, & Training Committee and Toolbox meetings.
  • Management of Workers Compensation/Rehabilitation of employees.
  • Coordinate and assist with incident investigations.
  • Assist in development of risk assessments using the appropriate tools and safe work procedures and monitor the implementation of controls.
  • Coordinate project hazard inspection and audit programs.
  • Advise on changes in Legislation, Codes of Practice and Standards
  • Provide technical Health, Safety, Environment, & Training information and experience
  • Provide Health, Safety, Environment, & Training review and input to Method statements & work-packs.
  • Lead any Health, Safety and Environment Advisor/s on the project.
  • Assist the development on the Contract Management System and associated site specific procedures.

The successful candidate will require:

  • Minimum Cert IV in OHS/WHS

  • TAE 40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment

  • Previous experience in same or similar preferably in contracting and resource industry

  • Good knowledge of statutory requirements and laws in mining

  • Ability to lead, manage and proactively participate in project teams

  • Australian Drivers Licence

This position is residential from Whyalla, therefore no FIFO or camp accommodation is provided.
