MARC USA is hiring an Online Editorial Manager for our Boston / Stoneham office.  In our full-service advertising agency, we provide our clients with a wide range of ad and marketing solutions.  Web content is a growing area of expertise here.  Our new Online Editorial Manager will lead all efforts related to bring web content to life for our clients.

 

Whether its images, copy or video, CONTENT is key and the fuel that drives the rest of engagement.  Your role will be to oversee and lead everything related to overall web content for our clients’ online properties.  You will be responsible for building and managing MARC’s digital content engine to ensure our team can offer digital content that is engaging, effective, affordable, and on brand.  This position will play a pivotal role in every aspect of the digital content life cycle.  You should be well versed in helping create editorial plans and content strategies to support brands business objectives.  You’ll be able to work with various MARC disciplines to interpret marketplace research, identify relevant and engaging story pillars, help develop distribution approaches, and identify ways to measure and quantify results.  You will source a variety of content from both internal departments and through a variety of trusted vendors and freelancers.  Are you well versed in the latest trends in online content tools from the usage of content management tools like Skyword to content creation tools like Snapapp or Ion Interactive?  Once an editorial plan is in effect, you will effectively serve as the gatekeeper for quality content, distinguishing when content is on target and on brand and using data to optimize editorial approaches.  As part of the planning and distribution process, the Content Marketing and Brand Editor will also coordinate with Social, SEO, and Measurement & Analytics teams to ensure that the editorial and distribution planning are optimized for the appropriate channels. 

 

Here are some specs for the position:

 

  • Basic knowledge of web technology and measurement platforms
  • 6-8 years of experience designing content and/or cross-channel digital campaigns at an online publishing company or traditional publisher with an extensive online presence.
  • Demonstrated expertise in online publishing and content marketing; from optimizing a website to organization of content to overseeing an editorial staff; editing copy; training junior team members on content management and content publishing platforms (WordPress, Expression Engine, etc.); leveraging paid, owned and earned channels, as well as media partnerships within the content marketing mix.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, with solid decision-making skills and ability to drive an agenda that merges client priorities with target audience interests/passions.
  • Outstanding communication skills, including the ability to successfully present program recommendations and establish relationships with senior clients as a trusted advisor.
  • Is plugged into emerging social media and content strategy trends, can put them into context and educate/sell client on implementation.
  • Demonstrated experience as a storyteller with an exceptional ability to think strategically and creatively, while staying on-brand with tone and voice.
  • Strong writing and editing skills for marketing-oriented content, including but not limited to: website content, white papers, blogs, infographics, email, landing pages, social media.
  • Demonstrated editorial ability across a variety of customer segments as well as brand and audience personas.
  • Good narrative instincts; trained in how to tell a story using words, images, video and an understanding of how to create content that draws an audience.
  • Able to align content development with client’s staff, writers and resources.
  • Strong familiarity with SEO concepts.
  • Ability to balance several projects while working in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Exceptional understanding of the blogosphere, social media, email marketing and best practices for user experience and engagement.
  • Demonstrated experience across a variety of emerging content creation and curation technologies.
