Our Automation Products Group in our Cambridge is currently looking for a bright, ambitious Software Developer who enjoys team work and on-going challenging projects.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Drive the software development process from gathering user requirements, software design, programming, testing, release and support.

  • Collaborate with hardware and FPGA designers to ensure the complete solution meets performance, reliability and cost requirements.

  • Work with team members and other groups to ensure labour and material budgets as well as scheduled delivery dates are adhered to or improved on.

  • Product field support which involves working with customers and internal engineering to find solutions to customer needs and problems. This is typically phone support with travel as required.

  • Support customers doing new installations including configuration, startup and product integration.

  • Perform engineering training for advanced users.

  • Assist with the generation of software related product documentation.

  • Provide pre-sales applications support to validate system quotes as needed.

  • Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.

  • These responsibilities are subject to change as a function of the individuals abilities.

  • Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures.

 

Education:

  • A post-secondary engineering or computer science degree, diploma or equivalent with an emphasis on software design and development.

 

Experience:

  • Software development (C/C++, .NET, embedded programming).

  • Experience with real time motion control and/or PLC’s is an asset.

  • Problem solving skills with systems involving mechanics, electronics and controls software.

  • Working knowledge of electronic test equipment.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

  • A self-starter with the ability to work as part of a team in a fast paced environment.
