Description

 Job Summary:

 

The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) seeks a Research Assistant/Senior Research Assistant (RA/SRA) for a one-year, fixed-term, exempt, renewable appointment in its Markets, Trade and Institutions Division. The RA/SRA will work on multiple ongoing projects, providing assistance on data analysis, research papers, briefs, reports, and presentations. This position is based at IFPRI headquarters located in Washington, DC and may involve travel.

 

Essential Duties:

 

Specific tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with field work and data collection and cleaning
  • Assisting with statistical and econometric analysis.
  • Assisting in drafting reports, presentations and papers
  • Performing literature reviews
  • Other relevant duties as assigned

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics or a closely related field
    • At the Senior Research Assistant level, Bachelor’s degree in Economics or a closely related field plus 2 years of relevant experience or Master’s degree in Economics or a closely related field
  • Significant experience with quantitative research methods and statistical analysis of databases
  • Significant working knowledge of STATA
  • Excellent econometric skills on cross-section, panel data, and/or time-series analysis
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, along with the ability to work independently and with initiative, and with colleagues from diverse cultures

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Sound knowledge of microeconomics and applied econometrics
  • Experience analyzing rural household survey data from developing countries
  • Basic working knowledge of Matlab and/or R-software
  • Fluency in written and spoken Spanish
