Rate:                           Base Rate $19.00 per hour

 

Requirements:           Portray a positive company image and attitude to personal; maintain current industry standards through continuing education; must be at least 18 years of age; must be able to communicate and understand English, verbally and written; must be able to communicate and pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen; must be able to provide current PPD test results; must have completed all mandatory training, including mandatory testing; must demonstrate a compassionate attitude toward all customers and family members; County Paramedic card, CPR for BLS Provider Certification, Current ACLS Certification, Valid California Driver’s License, Medical Examiner’s certification, Ambulance Drivers Certification, DMV H6 Report in accordance to insurance company standards.

 

 

Physical Requirements: Must be able to perform the following tasks: walk frequently, up to 4 hours per day; run infrequently, 1-2 minutes per day; stand frequently, up to 2 hours per day; sit frequently, up to 8 hours per day; kneel frequently, 10-15 times per day; bend frequently, 10-15 times per day. Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry 250 lbs. infrequently (1-3 times per shift). Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry 150 lbs. frequently (5-10 times per shift). Must have the ability to step up and/or climb over obstacles, Must be able to climb stairs while carrying up to 150 lbs. Must have adequate hearing acuity to perform job tasks (as delineated in California DMV DL 51 medical examination requirements).  Must have adequate vision (with corrective lenses if needed)to clearly distinguish colors, shapes, distances, etc. (as delineated in California DMV DL 51 medical examination requirements). Must have adequate hand and finger dexterity to grip and hold both large and small items. Must have adequate hand and arm strength to grip and lift heavy objects. Must be able to tolerate work in an outdoor environment (heat, cold, rain, etc.)

 

Tasks:                         A paramedic functions as the most extensively trained primary care provider in the pre-hospital setting. The paramedic is responsible for all aspects of care provided to the sick and injured. The paramedic provides both basic and advanced life support, including comprehensive patient assessment, invasive airway management, cardiac monitoring and administration of medications. The paramedic is frequently in a leadership role working with a small team of lesser-trained prehospital care providers. The paramedic is responsible for verbal communication with the patient, other prehospital providers and hospital personnel, including physician medical directors. The paramedic completes extensive written documentation on patient condition and treatment provided, and must understand all applicable legal, moral and ethical issues surrounding emergency medical service. The paramedic must be dedicated to continued learning through continuing education and maintenance of licensures and certifications.
 

Knowledge:                The paramedic must be a confident leader who can accept the challenge and high degree of responsibility entailed in this position. The paramedic must have excellent judgment, be able to prioritize decisions and act quickly in the best interest of the patient. The paramedic must be able to function independently at an optimum level in a non-structured environment that is constantly changing. The paramedic must be able to remain calm while working in difficult and stressful situations, and stay focused while assuming the leadership role inherent in carrying out the functions of the position. Good judgment is essential in directing other team members to assist as needed, along with advanced knowledge, technical skills. The paramedic must possess excellent verbal communication skills and be capable of adapting to situations with violence and emotional instability in multicultural settings. The paramedic must possess critical reasoning and math skills and be capable of applying them effectively in stressful situations. Self motivation is essential.
