Basic Function
The mission and purpose of this position are to compassionately deliver high-quality service and transportation in a professional, caring and cost-effective manner.
Responsibilities- include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Perform routine maintenance checks on vehicles and equipment at the beginning of each shift; and record and submit lists to EMT/Paramedic Supervisor. Document and report vehicle and equipment malfunctions to Paramedic Supervisor/ Supervisor on duty.
2. Transport/Drive patients to and from medical facilities and/or home in a timely manner. Utilize maps to locate hospitals, medical facilities, and patient home addresses.
3. Receive "call" information from dispatch center, and drive wheelchair van to the scene.
4. Complete "trip information" form and/or Patient Care Report to include patient information, location all calls during shift. Complete and submit billing forms accurately.
5. Attend in-house training and staff meetings as required to learn new techniques and maintain current skills.
6. Maintain crew areas in a neat and orderly fashion as needed.
7. Follow company Standard Operating Procedures, radio communication procedures, established Department of Transportation guidelines, state regulations, ‘sponsor’ hospital guidelines and company policies as required.
8. Maintain all required state and county certifications/license that pertain to the position of Wheelchair Van Driver as listed in certifications and licenses below.
9. Perform other related duties as assigned.

* Essential Job Duty
High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
Certificates and Licenses:
CPR for BLS Provider Certification, Valid California Driver’s License, DMV Driving Record in good standing in accordance to insurance company standards.
Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
• Must be able to perform the following tasks:
o Walk - frequently, up to 4 hours per day.
o Run - infrequently, 1-2 minutes per day.
o Stand - frequently, up to 2 hours per day.
o Sit - frequently, up to 8 hours per day.
o Kneel - frequently, 10-15 times per day.
o Bend - frequently, 10-15 times per day.
• Must be able to lift, push, pull, carry 250 Lbs. infrequently (1-3 times per shift)
• Must be able to lift, push, pull, carry 150 Lbs. frequently (5-10 times per shift)
• Must have ability to step up and/ or climb over obstacles
• Must be able to climb stairs while carrying up to 150 Lbs.
• Must have adequate hearing acuity to perform job tasks (as delineated in California DMV DL51 medical examination requirements)
• Must have adequate vision (with corrective lenses if needed) to clearly distinguish colors, shapes, distances, etc. (as delineated in California DMV DL51 medical examination requirements)
• Must have adequate hand and finger dexterity to grip and hold both large and small items
• Must have adequate hand and arm strength to grip and lift heavy objects
• Must be able to tolerate work in an outdoor environment (heat, cold, rain, etc.)
