Students in all disciplines will be eligible to participate; however, preference will be given to those students having a definite career objective.
Scholarships will only be awarded for attendance at an accredited trade school or accredited two or four-year college or university. Scholarships will be awarded to those students who are working towards an associate’s or bachelor’s degree. Masters and PhD’s are excluded from eligibility
Eligible institutions must meet at least one of the criteria set forth below:
A college or university meeting the accreditation requirements of one of the regional accrediting bodies associated with the American Council of Education.
Cloud Peak Energy will normally use a committee comprised of appropriate staff/faculty members of an outside academic institution. This committee will review applications from all company locations and make final scholarship award selections.
Recipients will be selected based on academic achievement (including GPA, ACT/SAT scores, etc.), auxiliary activities and interests, community involvement, and financial need. The receipt of other scholarships and/or grants may also be used as selection criteria.
SCHOLARSHIP LIMIT AND AMOUNT
The number of scholarships awarded on an annual basis will normally be limited to fifteen (15). Scholarships will be in the amount of $1000. Payment will be made in one lump sum to the college after proof of registration as a full-time student at an eligible institution has been submitted to Cloud Peak Energy’s Human Resources Department.
Students may reapply for scholarships up to three additional years beyond their Freshman year. Previous receipt of a scholarship does not guarantee receipt in any subsequent year.
CPE will be utilizing an on-line application process (see attached instructions). Completed applications must be received by the Human Resources Department at the Cloud Peak Energy Gillette Office March 10, 2017. Applications received after this date, will not be considered.
