Financial Systems Analyst

Role Summary

This position functions as an integral member of the Finance Team and is responsible for analyzing, recommending, and implementing efficient business solutions to meet the changing demands of Russell Investments’ businesses. This role will manage activities around requirements gathering, analysis, documentation and communication to the development teams, as well as, the facilitation of business acceptance of new product, technology or process improvement releases.

The responsibilities of the individual in this position include:

  • Provide technical support for both hardware and software issues our users encounter
  • Manage the configuration and operation of client-based computer operating systems
  • Monitor the system daily and respond immediately to security or usability concerns
  • Respond to and resolve help desk requests
  • Upgrade systems and processes as required for enhanced functionality and security issue resolution
  • Provides ongoing analysis, maintenance, and functional support for Financial systems throughout the organization.
  • Gains knowledge of business practices, regulations, workflows, and systems design in the assigned subject matter area; understands configurations and integration between functional areas.
  • Creates and maintains business requirements documents, system configuration documents, detailed functional specification documents, test plans and test cases, user training documents and implementation documentation as necessary.
  • Manage small projects and/or sub-teams of a project. Estimate, plan, manage and execute projects or parts of projects
  • Conduct acceptance testing and verify production completeness
  • Properly document and transition support of new business technology processes to IT

The successful candidate will have extensive demonstrable skills and experiences including the following:

  • 2-3 years Business Analyst experience
  • Strong finance experience
  • Project management or team leadership experience
  • Strong experience in eliciting, documenting and communicating product/solution requirements, and liaising between business and implementation teams
  • Experience with using SQL and Excel to query and analyze data
  • Experience in the investment management industry or data provision to the investment community preferred
  • Strong ability to multi-task and exceptional organizational abilities
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong experience in working with business applications to improve business outcomes
  • Exceptional written, verbal and presentation communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with associates on potentially tough issues, and the ability to provide guidance and assistance in effecting solutions/results
