Description

Position Title: Sr. Accountant

Reporting Structure & Work Setting:

This position typically performs work in a centralized, corporate environment and reports to an accounting manager with responsibility for identified functional areas.

Responsible for assisting the accounting manager in preparing and recording general ledger entries, assist in completing monthly financial package, oversee completeness and accuracy of the balance sheet reconciliations, verify accuracy and makes recommendations for corrections in numerous types of reports.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Perform variety of month-end closing procedures including preparation of account reconciliations and related journal entries.
  • Analyze financial statement accounts, identify unusual trends or erroneous entries, and verify accuracy of transactions and balances.
  • Demonstrates effectiveness in assisting with the preparation of the monthly financial package and fluctuation analysis.
  • Displays excellent working knowledge of accounting processes and controls, able to troubleshoot and correct weaknesses.
  • Develop and implement procedures to streamline month-end close and other finance activities.
  • Research issues that flow through to the general ledger from subledgers and systems and interact with other departments as needed to resolve the root cause of any problems.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures across all departments.
  • Possess excellent organizational skills.
  • Assists in budget development, short-term projections, and analysis of revenue and expense trends.
  • Ensures that accurate information is provided on a timely basis and assists, as needed, in facilitating the efficient conduct of external audits, examinations and related financial projects.
  • Assist with various projects that are assigned to the Finance Department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Solid accounting knowledge including GAAP.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Minimum of five years in Accounting
  • Working knowledge of NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains), Oracle, SAP
  • Superb attention to detail
  • Strong communication, planning, and organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Strong knowledge of Excel and Word
  • Desire to work in a challenging, fast-paced environment

PREFERRED:

  • CPA
  • Master’s degree
