Position Title: Sr. Accountant - Fixed Assets

 

Reporting Structure & Work Setting:

This position typically performs work in a centralized, corporate environment and reports to an accounting manager with responsibility for identified functional areas.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Maintain daily/weekly/monthly fixed asset schedules for internal/GAAP books, federal tax, and state tax, including asset additions, transfers and disposals
  • Perform weekly additions process ensuring assets are properly classified as capital items and are assigned appropriate category and lives
  • Account for construction in progress for internally developed software projects and facility construction (review lease terms)
  • Process additions and retirements from corporate book to tax book coordinating with Corporate Tax department
  • Prepare month-end and quarter-end roll forwards of fixed asset activity
  • Prepare journal entries relating to fixed assets including capitalized interest, capitalized payroll, reclassifications and adjustments.
  • Work closely with Finance, IT, A/P and General Ledger teams to ensure appropriate accounting and timely capitalization of assets
  • Preparing monthly depreciation journal entries
  • Maintain monthly personal property tax accounting, and the preparation and review of personal property tax filings with state and local tax agencies
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly sales/use tax filings and process payments
  • Other general ledger entries at month-end closing, as assigned
  • Balance sheet account reconciliations at month-end closing, as assigned
  • Expense account variance analysis at month-end closing, as assigned
  • Prepare various audit schedules and analysis, as assigned
  • Cross-train and assist with duties of other Senior Accountants
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or described in Company policy

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Minimum of five years in Accounting
  • Working knowledge of NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains), FAS, Sage, BNA or similar fixed assets applications
  • Superb attention to detail
  • Strong communication, planning, and organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Strong knowledge of Excel and Word
  • Desire to work in a challenging, fast-paced environment

PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:

  • CPA or candidate
  • Master’s degree
