MANAGER, SHARED SERVICES
With direction from senior level finance leadership, this position manages a segment of key functions of Financial Shared Service Center WageWorks’ Financial Shared Services manage a wide range of finance / accounting deliverables, Revenue Reporting, Reconciliation, Banking Operations, Accounts Payable, Credit and Collections, Cash Application.
REPORTING STRUCTURE & WORK SETTING
This position performs work in a centralized, corporate environment. This position reports to Director / Controller, Shared Services or top Finance Executive with overarching accounting and finance responsibility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Gain in-depth understanding of the Company’s operation models, financial statements, organization structure and proprietary technology platforms to effectively manage functional area(s) assigned.
2. Become the subject matter expert of business processes and associated accounting flows and financial impacts; actively seek and implement process improvement
3. Work closely with corporate controller group to support timely and quality book close and audits; be the lead contact in supporting audit walkthroughs and PBC items for areas that the role is responsible for.
4. Responsible for delivering on shared service center success metrics and ensures their team understands, supports and meets expected performance level, timely and accurately.
5. Contributes to development of cross functional processes/and or structures that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operations and financial reporting.
6. Manages the goals and priorities within the function. Mentor and develop members..

This position entails formal, direct supervisory responsibility for professional level individual contributors and support staff.
Matrixed supervisory responsibility includes the establishment, direction and follow-through for adherence to initiatives and policies and processes respective to the organization’s accounting records and cash management functions.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
A thorough knowledge and understanding of finance and accounting as normally obtained through the completion of a Bachelor’s Degree Finance or Accounting. CPA certification and/or an MBA is preferred.
WORK EXPERIENCE OR RELATED EXPERIENCE:
The ability to effectively ensure the integrity and maintenance of the organization’s fiscal records, policies and procedures, as normally obtained through a minimum of 5-7 years total accounting experience and 3-5 years supervisory or managerial experience. Previous experience in working and managing in shared service centers preferred.
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Excellent technical knowledge of all accounting functional areas is required with a very strong understanding of GAAP and SEC and IRS reporting requirements, and solid understanding of and exposure to Sarbanes-Oxley Sections 302 and 404. This includes the ability to consider the relationship of the regulatory environment and the organization as well as the ability to apply the appropriate principles in business.
A keen awareness of trends, general direction and the regulatory environment entailed in the insurance benefits industry and the ability to consider those present and future relationships to the organization are critical. An extensive understanding of WageWorks’ business operations, products, technologies, selling strategies and internal business processes is required to perform the essential functions as described.
A high level of deductive reasoning, inductive reasoning, complex problem solving, critical thinking, and information analysis skills are essential to define problems, collect data, analyze available information and evaluate results to choose the best solution to solve problems. Must be able to make high impact decisions even at times when insufficient information is available.
Excellent organizational, leadership, communication, presentation and interpersonal skills are required to perform the functions as described. Incumbents must have the ability to navigate political arenas with ease as well as persuade and negotiate with others while projecting a professional image.
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership techniques and coordination of people and resources in finance and accounting. The ability to encourage and build mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members is essential.
Incumbents must have proficient skills and abilities with a personal computer and have a solid knowledge, understanding and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically with Excel and Word. Additionally, Great Plains Dynamics, Oracle 11i financials, or other enterprise resource planning software experience is strongly preferred.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS & CONDITIONS
Some travel to field locations is required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS & DEMANDS
Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to unpleasant and/or hazardous working conditions.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & DEMANDS
Must have the ability to sit for prolonged periods of time. Some bending, stooping and stretching are required. Work requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment. Work requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports. On occasion, incumbent must be able to lift and/or move weight, such as a briefcase, package or box that weighs up to 50 pounds. Incumbent should be able to perform work at a computer terminal for extended periods in a day and function in an environment with constant interruptions. Incumbent is subject to high and frequent levels of stress.
