Administrative Specialist I:  This position is responsible for providing customer service, clerical, secretarial and processing support to the County’s Treatment Courts, such as Drug Court, DUI Court and Health Care Court. Work is performed under the supervision of the DUI Court program director.  All work performed is of a sensitive nature, and the incumbent must practice strict confidentiality with client and departmental information and records.

Duties:

Customer Service Responsibilities:

  • Greets and processes clients
  • Typing/Data - entry
  • Copying, filing and mail distribution
  • Knowledgeable about treatment court programs and processes
  • Internal and external customer service
  • Schedule nurse and/or counseling appointments
  • Information sharing

Administrative Duties:

  • Answering telephones
  • Prepare intake packets
  • Review treatment court website for updates
  • Minor short-term projects
  • Reports to supervisor
  • Knowledgeable of Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Ability to use the copier, fax, calculator and printer
  • Track and process payments
  • Utilize treatment courts databases

Additional Duties:  Occasionally serves as back-up to laboratory technicians in urinalysis monitoring.

 

Minimum Qualifications:  A High School Diploma or equivalent education; 0 - 2 years business-related experience or exposure.  Possess an aptitude and willingness to learn.  **May require certification by the Federal Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) as a Florida Crime Information Center/National Crime Information (FCIC/NCIC) operator.

  Subject to Passing Substance Screening:  This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening.  An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.

Subject to Passing CJIS Background Check:  This position is subject to passing a pre-employment FBI Criminal Justice Information Systems background check and security clearance.

 

Job Competencies:  Knowledge of basic word processing and filing practices. Skill in typing, ability to use varied databases for statistical/reporting purposes. Ability to learn and utilize various criminal justice databases, monitor/wintox systems, intoxilyzer, etc. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Knowledge of the Criminal Justice System is helpful.

Physical Demands:  Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
