Skilled Trades Worker I - Parks: Performs skilled work in the new construction, remodeling, repair and maintenance of County facilities. It also includes restroom cleaning, picking up trash, policing grounds, pressure cleaning, boardwalk inspections, event support and an assortment of various tasks.
Subject to Passing Substance Screening
This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five years.
- Responding to work orders for repairs in County parks, involving carpentry, painting, concrete work, irrigation and other construction and repair related activities. Assisting other staff in routine or corrective maintenance projects.
- Responsible for managing materials, multiple work orders, purchase cards, and maintaining county equipment. Evaluate and communicate potential issues (locates, calendar conflicts, permitting, other related issues.
- Paperwork activities such as P-card receipts, invoices and completion of work orders.
Minimum Qualifications: A High School Diploma or equivalent education and two (2) or more years of experience in park related maintenance. A valid Florida Driver's License is required.
Job Competencies: Knowledge of minor construction, shop fabrication, painting, power tools, “handyman” skills and environmental stewardship
Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Physical Demands: Must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
