Supervisor, Chief Treatment Plant Operator (Working Title: Lift Station Supervisor): Responsible for the daily scheduling, coordinating, supervision, technical advising and customer service functions associated with the operations, maintenance and repair of County facilities involving lift stations, S.T.E.P. and low pressure sewer systems, vacuum sewer systems, reclaimed water and the collection of wastewater.
Subject to Passing Substance Screening:This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five years.
Schedule, coordinate and supervise the daily and weekly maintenance and repair activities of lift station, S.T.E.P. and low pressure sewer systems, vacuum sewer systems, and reclaimed water distribution networks and the wastewater collection network including all appurtenances such as valves, meters, cross connection control device, and manholes to ensure the safe, proper and timely maintenance of these systems in compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Conduct inspections of all work activities to monitor the effectiveness and timely completion of these activities.
Process and/or review documents such as purchase requisitions, purchase orders, work orders, performance evaluations, bid specifications, invoices and packing slips.
Procure parts, materials and equipment necessary for maintenance operations.
Assist in the implementation, maintenance of and monitoring of preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance and repair programs to meet our customer service levels.
Responsible for appropriate scheduling of employees, materials and work to effectively and efficiently perform all maintenance activities.
Track vehicle and equipment usage and condition.
Monitor maintenance contractor work to ensure compliance with applicable County codes and standards.
Minimum Qualifications: A High School Diploma or its equivalent and four (4) years of related experience in water/wastewater, industrial electrician or industrial mechanic field OR any equivalent combination of related college education (engineering, mechanical or electrical maintenance) and experience. Possession of a valid Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within six (6) months from date of hire.
Preferred Qualifications: Progressively responsible experience in the maintenance operation and repair of mechanical, lift station, vacuum sewer and S.T.E.P. and low-pressure sewer systems. Class "C","B",or "A" State of Florida Collection Certification.
Job Based Competencies: Standard hand tools, power tools and other equipment used in lift station and sewer systems pertinent to the specific area of supervision. Ability to operate a personal computer utilizing a Windows operating system.
Work Schedule:7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday with on call work required.
Physical Demands: Must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds and regularly lift/move 25 pounds. A dolly/cart or team member is available to help. This position regularly works outdoors and with dangerous equipment. There is frequent risk of electrical shock. Protective clothing is regularly worn.
