Communications Associate I (Working Title: Communications Specialist): This is professional level work supporting the communications needs for various county departments. This position is responsible for working as a Communications team member to create and implement limited communication plans that contain multiple forms of marketing/brand deliverables. This position is required to work with and consult various staff members across the organization as directed by the immediate supervisor. This position reports to the project coordination supervisor.
Work with fellow Communications team members in developing and implementing small to intermediate-scale communication plans that support the organization’s vision, mission and values per the direction of the project coordination supervisor. Serves as the lead on project coordination for projects as directed.
Write and edit multiple types of products to support other Communications teams (design, video, web, media relations, etc.), including, but not limited to: limited communications plans; books/catalogs/guides; banners; brochures; FAQs; fact sheets; fliers; invitations/evites; media releases; postcards; posters; print ads; talking points; television promos and websites. Ensures that all materials produced are in accordance with AP and local style guides.
Plans, schedule, monitor and track progress of assigned tasks/projects and provide regular reports to the supervisor.
Work with appointed staff to develop social media plans and social media content.
Presents information in one-on-one and group situation to customers/clients, team members and other employees.
Follow department and county government procedures, policies, directives and guidance. Ensure actions are aligned with county’s vision, mission, values and goals. Provide excellent customer service in each task and/or assigned project whether for internal and/or external use.
Participate in training as necessary or prescribed to stay up-to-date on communications skills, trends, strategies and tools.
Minimum Qualifications: Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Media Relations, Mass Communications or related field - OR - Significant related experience in Public Communications.
Preferred Qualifications: Professional accreditation and/or certification in related career field are preferred.

Proficient with Adobe Acrobat.
Proficient in at least one electronic email/newsletter/survey delivery system.
Work Hours: 8:00 am. - 5:00 pm. Monday - Friday. **On-call and after hours work required.
