1Prospect Technologies is seeking qualified and experienced Counter-Improvised Explosive Device (C-IED) Instructors to deliver C-IED Defeat the Device (DtD) training and analytical support to related efforts managed by the Marine Corps Engineer School (MCES) at 29 Palms, CA.

Position Summary

Instructors will provide a variety of services.  This includes developing, maintaining and delivering C-IED training to the Marine Corps Operating Forces (OpFor), developing rudimentary mock training aids and limited maintenance of training equipment. Instructors will assist the schoolhouse and Training and Education Command (TECOM) in developing, coordinating, executing, and evaluating DtD Training and Education (T&E) concepts, policies, plans, and programs to ensure Marines are prepared to conduct operations in an IED threat environment. Instructors will support capability development including efforts across the pillars of Doctrine, Organization, Training, Materiel, Leadership/education, Personnel, and Facilities (DOTMLPF), and program management.:


Duties include teaching how to:

  • Visually identify IED indicators, Correctly react to IEDs.
  • Plan for movement in an IED environment.
  • Operate and maintain CREW and mine detection systems.
  • Identify and react to homemade explosives.
  • Assess, gather evidence, and exploit an IED scene using systematic searches.

You will also need to be proficient in:

  • Providing basic operator training for C-IED robotic systems.
  • Participating in and providing feedback during regular staff meetings and planning sessions.
  • Assisting with classroom and training area set-up/teardown and equipment movement.
  • Maintaining accountability and proper care of all assigned Government-owned equipment.
  • As required, keeping/providing an accurate record of student attendance and course completion.
  • Remaining current on all relevant new technology, devices, and equipment involving C-IED.
  • Performing additional duties and responsibilities as required.


  • Basic Instructor Course certification within last 5 years
  • C-IED experience: 4 years.
  • 7 years in Combat Arms with a minimum of 10 years military experience (USMC) with an honorable discharge.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and have an active Secret Security Clearance .
  • Must be able to withstand the rigors of inclement weather to include extreme heat and cold.
  • Have the ability to carry up to 40 pounds of training equipment and place/remove this equipment into and out of the ground with digging devices.
  • Be capable of multitasking – working several complex and diverse tasks with simultaneous or near simultaneous deadlines in a dynamic fast-paced environment.
  • Be well-organized, punctual, reliable and conscientious, and capable of managing resources and schedules to affect deadlines.
  • Be able to think independently and demonstrate exceptional written and oral communications skills.
  • Able to apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts.
  • Contribute to the development of new training principles and concepts.
  • Work on technical problems and provide solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious. Assignments may often be self-initiated. Determine and pursue courses of action necessary to obtain desired results. Develop advanced technological ideas and guide their development into a final product.
  • Ability to proficiently communicate in the English language and possess excellent written communication skills.
  • Understanding and experience with USMC Systems Approach to Training (SAT), and adult learning methodologies with the ability to articulate and implement them through the development of USMC SAT compliant curriculum.
  • Experience with military operations and training or Live Virtual Constructive (LVC) simulation combat development activities.
  • Experience with developing unit training plans at the Battalion level or higher.
