Registered Nurse – Obstetric Gynecology Labor and Delivery (OB-GYN L&D RN) Bassett Army Community Hospital (BACH)

Advancia Aeronautics is seeking qualified candidates to provide Part-Time Clinical Nursing Services to the Maternal Newborn Unit at Bassett Army Community Hospital (BACH), Fort Wainwright, Alaska.
Education and Experience:
Registered Nurse (RN) must possess an Associate, Diploma or Baccalaureate degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing from at least one state or territory in the U.S.
Possess a valid, current license (with no limitations, stipulations, or pending adverse actions), to practice nursing in one of the 50 states in the United States, or the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The equivalent of one-year experience within the last three years in a Maternal Newborn Unit, which would include experience with labor and delivery patients, newborns, labor recovery and post-partum.
Have and maintain current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. The American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers is the only program accepted.
Documentation of annual attendance at Joint Commission required classes for Infection
Control and Safety.
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification and External Fetal Monitoring (EFM) Certification is required for Maternal Newborn Unit RN’s, Advanced Fetal Monitoring Certification from the AWOHNN is acceptable.
Must have documentation of training in Intravenous (IV) procedures. For the IV
competency, a recent competency assessment from a current or recent employer is acceptable.
Ability to operate a personal computer utilizing Microsoft applications, such as Word, Excel, and efficiently utilize Electronic Medical Records.
Ability to use the various clinical automation systems as required, such as, but not limited to Composite Health Care System (CHCS), Armed Forces Health Longitudinal
Technology Application(AHLTA), Ambulatory Data System (ADS), and Defense Medical
Human Resource System – internet (DMHRSi).
Knowledge of a variety of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment, the desired effects, side effects, and complications of their use as well as the accurate administration of the pharmacologic agent, including dosage calculations as required.
The duties include but are not limited to the following:
Coordinates patient care through a continuum and facilitates the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to care, quality and cost effectiveness.
Assesses Obstetrical and Gynecological patients on a multi-disciplinary continuum including normal physiological changes; a wide variety of disease processes that may
complicated the antepartum, intrapartum or postpartum stages of pregnancy; the immediate care of the newborn; a wide variety of women’s’ health issues; and, the physiological changes in the normal life cycle.
Effectively communicates and collaborates with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization.
Skilled in setting up, operating, and monitoring specialized medical equipment such as IV
infusion pumps, cardiac monitoring devices, EKG units, oxygen analyzers, nebulizers,
and other unit specific equipment.
Recognizes adverse signs and symptoms and reacts quickly in emergency situations.
Completes orientation and competency verification programs in accordance with (IAW)
Excellent oral communication skills for patient education and telephone triage.
Conducts in-person assessment/evaluations including the determination of optimal location for patient management (e.g., ward, home).
Provides patients with the utmost care and attention. All patients shall be assured of their privacy and personal dignity.
Prepares all documentation to meet or exceed established standards of the MTF, to include, but not limited to, timeliness, accuracy, content and signature. Only MTF and military approved abbreviations shall be used for documentation of the patient health
