We are seeking an experienced Controls Technician for our First Quality Retail Services Group. This position will be located in King of Prussia, PA.  The ideal candidate will be responsible for working in a safe manner to troubleshoot and repair all electrical/electronic systems on production equipment in a specific area of the plant with minimum downtime. Secondary function is to install new equipment or modify existing equipment under the supervision of Electrical Manager, Engineer, Project Manager or Electrical Shop Leader. They take personal responsibility to prevent accidents and injuries by observing established working rules, follow the directions of supervisors, practice the principles taught in safety training and provide ideas to further strengthen our program.

 

Shift:

7AM-7PM or 7PM-7AM on a 3-2-2 Schedule (work 3, off 2, work 2)

 

Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to all Safe Work Practices (SWP) and organizational policies and procedures. Must abide by all safety requirements and attain safety goals.

  • Use test equipment such as meters, oscilloscopes, computers, etc., to determine the causes of electrical/electronic failures.

  • Replace faulty components as necessary to repair the production equipment.

  • Install conduit, wire, enclosures, etc., as necessary for new equipment or modifications of existing equipment.

  • Perform work neatly in accordance with the National Electrical Code.

  • Modify documentation as necessary to reflect changes made to machinery whether temporary or permanent.

  • Follows parts room procedures to ensure that parts used are properly reported. Notifies parts department of any parts that need to be stocked.

  • Work from drawings, sketches and verbal instructions.

  • Perform preventative maintenance.

  • Daily inspections of production equipment for electrical safety and correct operation.

  • Recommend improvements and upgrades to improve equipment operation.

  • Direct the work of the B Line Electricians.

  • Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.

     

Additional Skills:

  • Must be familiar with PLC’s and electronic drives. Must be familiar with AC and DC motors and controls.

  • Must be able to use necessary test equipment.

  • Must have tools necessary to perform tasks associated with the position.

  • Must be familiar with the National Electrical Code.

  • Must have good interpersonal skills and interface with all departments.

  • Must be a self-starter, able to work with a minimum of supervision.

Requirements:

  • Associate Degree in Industrial Electricity/Industrial Electronic; or an  Associate Degree equivalent such as military training or trade school; or successful completion of Electrical Apprenticeship Program.

  • Must have five (5) years of experience in industrial machine repair.

  • Must be able to pass written, practical and technical aptitude tests.

  • Must be able to speak, read and write the English language and perform basic mathematical skills. Must be able to pass minimum required standard on all competency tests.
