DIVISION:  Nursing – IBCCP

HOURS:  19 hours per week, Monday through Friday.

SALARY:  $27.56 per hour

 

JOB SUMMARY:

A Public Health Nurse is a registered professional nurse who functions independently and exercises critical nursing judgment.  This position ensures the provision of quality nursing care and health education in accordance with best nursing practices. The Public Health Nurse will assist with case management and the clinical service functions of the Illinois Breast and Cervical Cancer Program (IBCCP) and the Illinois WISEWOMAN Program (IWP) in McHenry County.  

 

JOB FUNCTION:

  • Provides nursing assessment and coordination of breast and cervical cancer and cardiovascular disease risk screenings for women.
  • Provides comprehensive follow-up for clients receiving diagnostic testing according to program guidelines.
  • Provides general breast and cervical health education to clients and explanation of Pap tests and/or mammogram results as applicable.
  • Provides education and health coaching on prevention and/or management of cardiovascular disease risk factors such as obesity, diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol.
  • Provides phlebotomy as needed.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely entry of screening data for the assigned caseload.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Registered Nurse licensed in the State of Illinois. Women’s health experience preferred. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
