Salary Range: $130,000-$165,000
Salary offer is commensurate with experience

Relocation: Relocation assistance provided
1. Accredited 4-year college degree.
2. Minimum five years prior experience in a senior management role with a YMCA or related experience at a comparable organization with direct supervision of multiple levels of staff.

4. Must be relentless in pursing excellence in programs. Review and enhance programs being offered or considered for both economy and the effectiveness in broadening our engagement in the communities in which we serve.
Preferred Criteria for Candidates:
1. Fiscally sound business management approach.
2. Strategic planning and Fundraising experience including annual campaigns and the securing of grants.
3. A proven track record of budgetary and fiscal management in excess of $3M or more annually.
4. YMCA Organizational Leader Certification.
The Board of Directors of the Champaign County YMCA (aka Stephens Family YMCA) is looking for a servant-leader who puts the needs of others first and help people develop and achieve performance excellence. This innovative, inspirational leader must be passionate and enthusiastic with an engaging manner while positioning this YMCA as an indispensable community asset. Also, guide the Board of Directors to new heights and build strong relationships with high visibility in the communities we serve.
Key Deliverables and requirements for the CEO include, but are not limited to:
• Develop and Implement a Strategic Plan
In partnership with the Board, develop and identify critical needs of the Y and Champaign County. Develop a plan of action to review and enhance programs offered; identify potential new programs, for both economy and effectiveness in broadening our engagement and impact in the community in which we serve. Set priorities, enhance the operations, increase marketing and awareness. and appropriate Y staff to develop an annual tactical plan for achieving key goals and objectives. Remain fully informed of all operational issues and have the keen ability to quickly address any issues that may arise as well as forecast future needs.
• Lead and Develop a Cohesive Professional Staff Team
Must possess the confidence and skill to evaluate the current strengths and development needs of all key staff and create a plan for individual development to achieve excellence in their work. Create a plan to ensure that the YMCA has an outstanding, dedicated and empowered staff team. Encourage the team by creating a spirit of camaraderie and commitment to mission. Be the heart and soul of the operation, actively interact and communicate with staff. Role model the behavior you want reflected in Y staff; be visible.
• Advocate the Vision of the YMCA by Creating High Visibility in the Community
Be viewed and respected as a key leader within the community, proactively creating collaborations while always upholding the highest standards and values of the YMCA. Actively interact and communicate with YMCA members, donors, staff and volunteers. Seek every opportunity to promote the key strategies and strength of the YMCA.
• Build a Culture of Philanthropy
The candidate must be skilled in creating an environment of giving whether of time, talent and treasure. This includes volunteer leadership, staff, members and key constituents. Create and execute fundraising strategies to ensure an increase in contributed support for the organization, foundation grants, special events, community collaborations; and create revenue streams necessary to support and sustain the needs of the YMCA. Identify cultivate, solicitate and provide stewardship of the donor base to support current operations, long-term financial stability and development of endowment funds.
About the YMCA:
The Stephens Family YMCA has a rich history, spanning 75 years and is a leading nonprofit community service organization, serving Champaign, Urbana, Savoy and the surrounding communities with health and fitness facilities, day camps, and numerous child-care locations.
Facility Features: 75,000 square foot facility, with 3 pools (therapy pool, family zero depth pool and 8-lane lap pool). We have the first accessible water slide. 7,000 square foot cardio/free weight area, 3 aerobic studios, large wood floor gymnasium, gymnastics gym, Indoor track, Athletic Field and Outdoor Pavilion, 2-story Rock Climbing Wall, Teen and Active Older Adult social space and child watch area consisting of 3 rooms.
Membership Features: Currently at 12,598 members
Programs: The Y served over 16,000 participants in fee based programming; we offer over 145 group exercise classes each week, have 1200-1300 youth attend child watch each week.
Staff: 352 Staff (19 are full-time). COO/CFO direct reports to CEO
Operating Budget Size: $5.2 million
Financial Condition: Very healthy fiscally, $1.8 million in debt. $173,000 in endowment. Positive operating results past 5 years
Annual Campaign: 2017 Actual $135,000 / 2018 Goal is $140,000
# of Board Members: 14 Board Members with the following committees - Fund Development and New Membership Committee, Facilities Committee, Personnel Committee, Program Committee, Major Donor Development Committee, Larkin’s Place Committee, Board and Committee Development and Finance Committee.

In Champaign-Urbana, academia intersects culture and community. With a metro population of 195,000, Champaign-Urbana is a BIG 10 university community – home of the University of Illinois - that offers a wide variety of entertainment, cultural and leisure activities usually found in much larger cities. The area offers museums, galleries and college happenings, including Big Ten sporting events. Residents enjoy surrounding parks and forest preserves by day and local wineries, eclectic restaurants and historic theaters for nighttime entertainment. Champaign-Urbana provides an ideal environment to raise a family, with a progressive public school system and more than 80 neighborhoods.
