Privacy Policy

This privacy policy is directed and applicable to individuals who visit the “Careers” portion of the CHANEL website accessible at www.chanel.com directed at individuals in the U.S. (“the Careers Site”), which is accessible by selecting “United States” under the listings that appear below “America” on the “Careers” page.  The Careers Site is presently maintained by Oracle Corp. on our behalf.

This policy applies only to information collected via the Careers Site and does not extend to any other website, or any other portion of the CHANEL website, including other country-specific pages or region-specific pages on the CHANEL website intended for non-U.S. users.

Information We Collect:

Applicants for employment voluntarily provide Personally Identifiable Information via the Careers Site during the on-line application process.

Personally Identifiable Information:  “Personally Identifiable Information” is information that could be used to identify or contact you, either on its own or in combination with other information.  It includes, but is not limited to, information such as name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, social security number, driver’s license number, and biographical information, including resume information.     

To register, users must provide their last name, e-mail address, and a password.
In addition, the application process requires Personally Identifiable Information to be provided concerning credentials and experience such as eligibility, employment history, and information contained in a resume.  Failure to supply such information may result in the inability to process the applicant’s employment application.

The web servers for the Careers Site also automatically collect and log web usage data and other information when you visit the Careers Site.  This may include your IP address, browser type, date and time of your web request, and cookies that uniquely identify your browser.  Additionally, third-parties may collect information about your online activities over time and across different websites when you use the Careers Site.

Cookies: A “cookie” is a unique numeric code transferred from a website to a user’s hard drive, often used to track the user’s interests and preferences and increase the efficiency of the user’s experience on a website.  Like other websites, information about your use of the Careers Site is collected through cookies.  You can change the preferences on your browser so that it does not accept cookies, although this may impede the Careers Site’s functionality.  Each browser is different, so you should check your browser’s “Help” menu to learn how to change your cookie preferences.

Browser Signals:

We do not currently respond to web browser “do not track” signals or other mechanisms that may offer individuals choice for such activities.  If we do so in the future, we will describe how we do so in this privacy policy.

How We Use, Hold, and Share Information:

Personally Identifiable Information collected will be used for recruitment purposes including the assessment of suitability of an applicant for an open position with Chanel, Inc. (the “Company”) or its affiliates.  We will not share or sell Personally Identifiable Information collected on the Careers Site with third parties for their own independent marketing activities.  

Any data collected on the Careers Site will be held for at least the minimum period of time required by applicable U.S. law.  Your Personally Identifiable Information may also be retained for consideration of future job openings.

Data provided during the application process will be kept confidential to the extent practicable; provided Personally Identifiable Information and other data may be provided to, transferred to and/or saved by:

  1. Any person or entity when the Company or its affiliates is required to make disclosure under any applicable law or where we do so to protect our legal interests.

Any server(s) or database(s) located in other jurisdictions that may have different legal requirements regarding personal data protection than your home jurisdiction.  In such cases, the Company will take reasonable steps with regard to such transfer as required by applicable laws and regulations.

Security:
