The Asset Management Specialist- Electrical Systems is responsible to the IMP CP140 OWSS Deputy Program Manager via the Lead Asset Manager for the provision of asset management tasks for CP140 aircraft interior and exterior lights and lighting systems, engine instruments and other miscellaneous aircraft instruments. Also responsible for the provision of technical information and analysis, monitoring performance and maintenance requirements and recommending improvements to optimize life-cycle costs and aircraft availability for the assigned systems.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Technical Duties shall include but not limited to (for assigned equipment) the following:
- Respond to enquiries from CP140 bases, and the CP140 weapon system manager’s (WSM) staff by providing direct assistance or redirecting a request for assistance to the appropriate department within IMP within a performance based contract framework.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of CP140 CFTOs.
- Prepare, and monitor the completion of change documents (DND AF9000) associated with equipment modifications or technical changes to CP140 components under assigned management.
- As required, prepare and review modification proposals, special inspections, work packages, information leaflets, Statements of Work.
- Ensure recommendations impacting airworthiness and flight safety are coordinated with both DND and IMP Senior Design Engineers as appropriate.
- Monitor CFSS High Priority Requests in conjunction with the IMP Supply Management Team and take appropriate action to prevent or minimize reoccurrence in both the short and long term.
- Examine and coordinate the optimization of component Life Cycle Costing (LCC) based upon customer requirements and inputs from the LSA Engineering and IMP Supply Chain Management teams.
- Manage the implementation of LSA and Engineering report recommendations with the aim of rectifying “worst offenders” or problematic CP140 components.
- For parts managed by other fleets, on behalf of the CP140, interact with other fleet LCMMs, Supply Managers and Equipment Managers to ensure that the requirements of the CP140 are met.
- Maintain aircraft system databases as required.
- Prepare and/or assist with the preparation of briefings to DND at NDHQ and IMP Management as required;
- Prepare for and attend the CP140/P-3 International Operators Support Conference (IOSC) as required.
- Participate in training and personnel development activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Formal training on the CP140 Primary Air Vehicle (PAV) and related systems would be ideal; however, similar experience on another fleet will be considered.
- Minimum ten years of aircraft and aircraft systems experience with emphasis on the assigned systems is required, of which five years should be “hands-on” work exposure to an aircraft type (preferably heavy multi-engine).
- 3 or more years of experience in DND aircraft engineering administration or project management is desired.
- A comprehensive knowledge of military or civilian aircraft maintenance, as well as a comprehensive knowledge of the mechanical and electrical theory associated with the operational maintenance requirements for, air conditioning, pressurization, auxiliary power units, and surface ice control systems.
- An Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) with a TCCA license or DND experience as an aircraft release authority (ARA) would be considered an asset.
- Training in Logistics Support, Reliability Centered Maintenance and/or management of physical assets is a definite strength.

- Good technical writing skills and the ability to read and interpret aircraft technical orders and drawings.
- A working knowledge of the CF Supply System, SAP, DRIMIS, or JDE would be an asset.
- Ability to use computers and MS Office software with particular abilities in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point and use of Access.

- Incumbents must be able to pass and maintain Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) and Transport Canada security clearances.
