Your Principal Duties:

In your role as Manager you will leverage your expertise to support Making Cents International’s identification, capture, and implementation of projects across all of our practice areas: youth development; women’s empowerment; agriculture, food security and nutrition; entrepreneurship and enterprise development; financial inclusion; and workforce development. You will support the effective management of projects, contribute to technical services delivery through assessments and project design, and lead capacity-building activities where appropriate. For new business development, you will gather business intelligence on upcoming bids, contribute to capture efforts, and lead and/or contribute to writing proposals as a sub or prime contractor in response to USAID and other government, foundation, and private clients. Your interpersonal and communication skills will enable you to represent Making Cents effectively with clients and partners. Using your strong writing and editing skills, you will develop products that describe Making Cents’ technical competencies and project success stories. Success in this role requires a detail-oriented, proactive individual who enjoys working in a dynamic, small business environment.

Responsibilities include:

For Technical Services

  • Support technical service delivery through project design and capacity-building activities.
  • Acting as Project Officer, develop work plans for projects, identifying tasks to be accomplished, mechanisms for completion, and realistic client-focused timelines.
  • Orchestrate activities for assigned projects such as budget monitoring, level-of-effort utilization, invoicing, subcontractor management, deliverable tracking, and project documentation, confirming that activities are compliant with funder regulations and company policies.
  • Write a range of products, including briefs and reports summarizing key findings, recommendations for improvement, and practice-focused lessons learned.

For Business Development

  • Support capture and proposal development efforts, including communication with prime contractors and/or partner organizations.
  • Lead and/or coordinate the development, drafting, and finalizing of technical and cost proposals and budgets with input from technical staff.
  • Support proposal and BD consultant recruitment. 
  • Contribute to company’s new business development strategy. 
  • Maintain and develop new relationships with partners, public- and private-sector clients, and corporate/family foundations.
  • Attend conferences and networking events on behalf of Making Cents.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree.
  • Five years’ experience in international development.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Working knowledge of current issues in one or more of the following areas: women’s empowerment; agriculture, food security and nutrition: entrepreneurship and enterprise development; financial inclusion; workforce development; youth development
  • Demonstrated experience working on USAID proposal responses as a prime contractor or subcontractor, including participating in capture efforts and writing technical sections of proposals.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Demonstrated MS Office skills, including proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work in the US without sponsorship.

Working Conditions:

Normal office environment, ability to travel in less developed countries up to 15% of the time required.
