The Vancouver Airport Authority has a permanent, full-time opportunity for a Buyer in the Supply Management Department.  Reporting to the Manager, Supply Management, the successful candidate will be responsible for procuring goods and services on a timely basis, with an acceptable quality at the best possible value.
 
Key responsibilities include:
  • Procuring goods and services using a competitive process, including:
    • Preparing RFPs, RFQs, RFPQs, tender packages and RFEOIs
    • Closing bids and evaluation processes
    • Awarding contracts
  • Procuring goods and services using non-competitive processes
  • Providing assistance for key purchases and project estimates to end user departments
  • Supporting end user queries on requisition, PO and contract statuses
  • Managing procure to pay processes 
  • Building relationships with suppliers, and acting as a liaison between vendors and end users
Key qualifications include:
  • Completion of a post-secondary certificate or diploma in general business studies, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP), Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) or Certified Logistics Professional (CCLP) designation (or suitable experience and education to attain one or all of the designations)
  • Knowledge of business processes as they relate to purchasing, receiving, finance, operations, sales, warehousing, transportation, customs and brokerage
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Proven communication skills including negotiation skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization, both internally and externally
  • Solid organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle many tasks at the same time
  • Proficiency with computer software, particularly MS Word, Excel and Outlook, and Oracle
