Community Outreach Coordinator ( 20 hours per week)

Adelphi University School of Social Work invites applications from qualified candidates to fill the position of Community Outreach Coordinator (COC), a hourly position.  The position is available immediately and is based on the Garden City Campus, with recruitment objectives targeting the School’s programs in Manhattan and Garden City. 

Reporting to the Director of Outreach, Enrollment and Professional Advisement, the Community Outreach Coordinator develops and strengthens the School of Social Work’s partnerships with community agencies, colleges and universities, and civic and public entities to promote Adelphi’s innovative BSW and MSW programs throughout New York City, New Jersey and Nassau and Westchester Counties.  The COC will be part of a collaborative team to create and enact a recruitment plan, develop and maintain relationships with partners in human service agencies, community colleges, high schools, and other stakeholders, as well as provide advisement to candidates seeking admission.


The successful candidate will have a social work degree and familiarity with social work education, marketing, and public relations. The position requires excellent interpersonal, written, and public speaking skills, strong organizational, communication and time management skills, and the ability to network effectively within the university, human service, public sector, and nonprofit communities. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and familiarity with social media applications are also an expectation for this position. Flexible hours including some evenings and weekends as well as local travel is required.
