Title Position Reports To: Chairperson, Department of Music
Provide central administrative support to the music department and department chair in the coordination of music program events (departmental and guest artists); liaison with AUPAC administration; recruitment and audition activities and events; and assist chair in documenting faculty meetings, budget management and related activities. General knowledge of music in terms of production practices preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Coordinate concerts, recitals, musical events, and rehearsals organized and produced by the Department of Music, including but not limited to Guest Artist concerts, workshops and master classes, and special events in service of the University.
Process contracts for Guest Artists and other musicians engaged by the department.
Provide assistance as needed to visiting Guest Artists and musicians.
Function as publicity and production liaison with the Adelphi University Performing Arts Center administration and staff for music programs and events.
Produce or assist in production of printed programs for events.
Coordinate recruitment activities and initiatives as directed by the Chair.
Assist in developing printed as well as online recruitment materials.
Assist in coordination of departmental audition days and appointments. Additional responsibilities as related to auditions may be assigned by the Chair.
Assist Chair in tracking budgetary expenses and processing payments related to the Music Program, as directed.
Additional areas of responsibility may be assigned by the Chair according to the applicant’s area(s) of expertise and the needs of the department.
Excellent writing skills as well as ability to edit and revise documents.
Familiarity and facility with job-related software programs.
Ability to be organized and detail oriented.
Ability to schedule and prioritize workload according to volume, urgency, etc.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Music undergraduate degree (graduate degree preferred)
Prior job-related experience
