Catalog and Metadata Strategies Specialist

Under general supervision of the unit head, the Catalog and Metadata Specialist will independently handle a variety of functions, including: supervising cataloging staff and student workers, and the daily operations of the cataloging unit, Original and copy cataloging of a variety of materials in a variety of formats, including print and electronic; applying metadata to digital resources such as our institutional repository and special collections digital collections; assist in the cataloging for special collections materials; provide general catalog maintenance; contribute to the working of metadata for our academic consortium; keep abreast of emerging trends, innovations and best practices affecting library systems, catalogs, and metadata standards. The Specialist will work independently and exercise good judgment in decision making, following established practices and procedures.
