Adelphi University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in biology with a focus in evolutionary biology to begin fall 2020. The candidate is expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in evolution, introductory biology, and additional courses in the candidate’s area of specialty. Research areas could include evolutionary modeling, phylogenetics, comparative methods, molecular evolution, or other related fields. The successful applicant will have a commitment to teaching students from diverse cultural backgrounds and excellent potential as a teacher, plus a record of significant research accomplishment and the potential to develop a fundable independent research program involving undergraduate and master’s students. Preference will be given to applicants who could incorporate computational methods into their area of research. The successful applicant will join an active, engaged, and collegial department spanning all areas of biology that is particularly focused on the use of evidence-based teaching practices.
