Costco Wholesale is looking for a systems administrator with cross-functional knowledge and experience to ensure the availability, reliability, and optimization of server compute, virtualization, storage, and enterprise recovery environments.  They will ensure proper functionality and peak performance of virtual server, compute, and storage infrastructure, and they will provide guidance and assistance in projects requiring such environments. ROLE

  • Develops, QA tests, and implements of VMware hosts and systems to optimize performance and availability of enterprise virtual server and storage infrastructure.
  • Provides proactive maintenance of virtualization server hardware and hypervisor, including patching and driver/firmware updates.
  • Develops and implements solutions for projects requiring warehouse or data center compute and storage.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting and solving incidents related to virtual server infrastructure, compute, storage, and data protection environments.
  • Identifies and reports Key Performance Indicators, focusing on root cause and reducing incidents within our environment.
  • Coordinates and participates in key process improvements to administer the compute, storage, and data protection environments.
  • Cross-functional collaboration to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of corporate and warehouse servers to meet business demands.
  • Implements policies, procedures, and technologies to ensure server security.
  • Manages and maintains Intel-based systems and systems software.

REQUIRED

  • Possesses a broad-based technical knowledge in storage and backup solutions, host systems, networks, applications, data, and security.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware and software troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of database management systems such as Oracle and MS SQL.
  • Understanding of network stack and fundamentals.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-service focus.
  • Detail oriented and possess strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyze for potential future issues.
  • Strong technical documentation and writing skills.
  • Must be extremely responsive and able to work under pressure with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Strong critical thinking, analysis, and documentation skills.

Recommended

  • Good working knowledge of VMware technologies.  VMware Certified Professional (VCP) certification is a plus.
  • Experience working with Fibre Channel SAN, and NFS based storage arrays.
  • Strong experience installing, configuring, and maintaining Windows and Linux servers, networks, and clusters in an enterprise environment.
  • Background in enterprise server hardware administration.
  • Windows Server OS, Linux OS, AIX OS and MAC OS administrative experience will be an asset to this position.
