Reporting to the Senior Manager, Planning and Forecasting, the Senior Financial Analyst (“SFA”) is responsible for managing the data flows, system controls and enhancements with the new Oracle Hyperion Planning system. Leveraging this system to provide customers with value-added information and analysis to assist in their decision-making process for managing the day-to-day and long-term business needs of the organization. Preparing and reviewing timely, accurate and complete planning and forecasting management reports and presentations to meet the requirements of both internal (i.e., board, executives, and business units) and external customers (i.e., regulators) are the responsibilities of the SFA. Understanding the customers' requirements, identifying the correct source of data, extracting the data and structuring it in a meaningful way are critical parts of this responsibility.

This is a senior financial analyst position (SFA) and therefore requires strong leadership skills and a willingness to lead by example, as the position is responsible for coaching and mentoring junior staff.  This role requires the utmost professionalism and service levels in meeting the strict deadlines and providing quality service. Well-developed system expertise, analytical skills and attention-to-detail are critical attributes for a successful candidate.   The SFA is also responsible for identifying any potential problems or risk areas as well as opportunities that their customers may need to be aware of and act on.

Your Responsibilities:                                                                                    

  • Being the super user on the new Corporate Planning system in terms of data management, system controls and enhancements
  • Providing Finance customers with value-added financial information and analysis to assist in their decision-making process                                            
  • Interacting with customers at various levels across the organization
  • Understanding the customers' requirements, identifying the correct source of data, extracting the data and structuring it in a meaningful way
  • Interact with other business units to obtain and/or provide financial information
  • Preparing and reviewing timely, accurate and complete planning reports and presentation (recurring and adhoc) to meet the requirements of finance customers, including quarterly forecasting reports, annual planning presentation, and monthly expense reports and management commentary
  • Lead by example and mentoring and coaching junior staff
  • Self-review work performed/reports prepared for feasibility, accuracy and completeness

Your Skills & Experience:

  • University accounting degree
  • A recognized accounting designation, CPA (or near completion)
  • Prior experience in working with financial planning and reporting systems
  • Professional, friendly and courteous in all interactions
  • Remain calm even under pressure and perform well in a busy environment
  • Strong analytic skills, written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrate an overall business approach that is both customer and results-oriented
  • Strong attention to detail
  • As part of the selection process, this role requires candidates to successfully clear a Criminal Background Check and a Credit Check in order to be offered the position
