Reporting to the Manager, Underwriting, the Data Analyst Student is responsible for manually reviewing data in search of errors, exceptions or corrections.  This role will work closely with the project team and be given guidance on how to review the system for errors and chart the data.

** This is a contract position until the end of August **

In this role, you will:

  • assist with manual back-up processes/work-arounds for functions in scope for automation

Your Responsibilities:

  • Capturing data to assist the team determine Underwriting compliance
  • Review and analysis of multi-faceted data elements
  • Manually correcting file data
  • Assist in monitoring the performance of the portfolio against the operational plan and assist in reporting findings
  • Ensure changes are implemented correct and in a timely manner
  • Perform complex analyses using MS Excel, MS Access, Cognos, Pentaho and Third-Party software

Your Skills and Experience:

  • Enrolled in a college or university degree program in a related field of study (e.g., Business, Commerce, Actuarial Sciences, Mathematics, Economics)
  • Data entry experience
  • Ability to review, trend and audit high volumes of data
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in the insurance industry and/or underwriting is considered an asset
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft applications (Excel, Access)
  • Ability to work under pressure
