In this role, you will:

  • Reporting to the Director, Corporate Property & Subrogation you are accountable for providing technical support and settlement authority on the subrogation portfolio to our Property and Auto Claims Operations nationally. You are also responsible for developing, documenting and implementing technical claims standards, policies, procedures and performing audits as it relates to auto and property subrogation.This includes conducting subrogation specific analysis and providing technical line-specific support claims partners nationally

    Your Responsibilities

  • Develop and document standards, policies and procedures around subrogation claims handling 

  • Provide guidance and support in the investigation and adjustment of large and complex property claims as it relates to subrogation

  • Track and assess the effectiveness of policy and procedures through the use of audits, inspections and surveys

  • Develop audit plans and document audit results  

  • Conduct business analysis (e.g. loss trends, loss and expense control)

  • Develop related line-specific research, analysis, trending, benchmarking, claims bulletins, quality assurance and risk management controls

  • Keep field staff informed of relevant industry, legal and corporate developments  

  • Participate in research and product development

  • Act as the liaison with external parties such as independent adjusting partners regarding referrals, audits and reporting

  • Act as the liaison and provide necessary information to internal parties such as Actuarial, Underwriting and Claim Legal

  • Continually collaborate with National CTA peers to assess, evaluate and develop training needs relating to subrogation claim handling and best practices

  • Provide technical claims and subrogation advice in the related claims line of business to claim partners, and provide subject matter expertise to training developers for subrogation specific training

  • Manage risk involving auto and property related legal issues

  • Lead and support new line-specific expense or other business initiatives

    Your Skills and Experience

  • University degree in any discipline or a 2-year college diploma or the CIP designation

  • A minimum 7 years of experience handling complex claims

  • Preference will be given to candidates with multi-line experience and/or leadership experience

  • Bilingualism (French/English) would be considered an asset
