TITLE/CODE                          Instructional Developer

DEPARTMENT:                      Education & Training

 

 

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

This position is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of technical and soft skill training programs; in addition to creating print and web-based training materials and tracking the effectiveness of training. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; other duties may be assigned.  Management retains the discretion to add to or change the duties of the position at any time.

 

·        Develops training materials for computer or web-based training.

·        Develops traditional print materials and presentations.

·        Develops and maintains internal and external websites.

·        Creates the design and layout of projects for The Blood Center, including, but not limited to, web page designs, multimedia presentations and print.

·        Maintain up-to-date knowledge of web design standards and developments, and assist in creating internal standards for E&T projects.

·        Utilizes the learning management system for creating and implementing web-based training, online exams and modules.

·        Investigates, analyzes and learns current and/or future technology trends.

·        Support instructor-led training activities through the production of audio video.

Attendance

Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in The Blood Center’s sole discretion.

Regular Hours

Full time:  must be regularly available to work at least 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, or such other days or hours per week as The Blood Center determines are necessary to meet business needs.

Overtime (applicable only to non-exempt positions)

Must be available and willing to work such overtime per day or per week as The Blood Center determines is necessary or desirable to meet business needs.

Weekend and Holidays

Must be available and willing to work such weekends and holidays as The Blood Center determines are necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university, plus 2 years experience developing adult training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. (Blood Banking or medical knowledge or experience a plus). 

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

None

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, independently.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Exceptional written and interpersonal skills

Must be Computer LIterate 

Accomplished user of Adobe Photoshop and Dreamweaver

Accomplished user of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint

 

A combination of the following skills is desirable:

Experience developing projects using Adobe Flash, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, Audition, FrameMaker, Captivate, Visual Communicator, InDesign.

Experience using Microsoft Access, Excel, Visio.

Rapid e-learning development using Articulate.

Experience writing scripts using ActionScript 2.0/ 3.0, JavaScript, ASP, PHP, Coldfusion, HTML5, CSS3, XML.

Photography and video production.

Ability to manage projects using the ADDIE model and AGILE development process.
