Job Description


The DevOps Engineer Intern position is responsible for design, creation and testing of tooling and systems that support a continuous integration / continuous delivery ecosystem for Infinite Campus software products. Infinite Campus is actively recruiting Computer Science students who are looking for an opportunity to gain experience within a software development life cycle under the mentorship of smart, enthusiastic, passionate, dedicated and seasoned DevOps Engineers. These positions are potential to FT placement upon graduation; assuming an opening is available at the time. Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g. H1B status)F1, OPT etc. will not be considered. This paid internship is an onsite position at our Blaine, MN headquarters (not on the bus line). Initial assignment will be for a duration of six months; subject to extension. MUST be available a minimum of 15 hours/week during the school year and 40 hours/week June - August. Work schedule is flexible between the hours of 6am and 6pm. Available start dates: Immediate, January 2020 and June 2020 - minimum six months.

Job Responsibilities

  • Under the guidance of other Engineers; develop and assist in maintaining software automation tools used to manage source code, builds, testing frameworks, artifacts, sites and data, platforms, deployment, monitoring and configuration of the Infinite Campus products and related patches
  • Understand the needs of the consumers for whom the tools and systems are being developed
  • Understand the standard SDLC and CI/CD concepts, practices, and procedure
  • Participate in the design and development of internal solutions that meet functional requirements and are durable and maintainable over time
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure one's own code is reviewed
  • Write unit tests and other automated validation tests to verify solutions are working as expected;
  • Research, troubleshoot and fix issues in the DevOps ecosystem
  • Write system documentation in support of the code being developed
  • Fulfill other related duties as assigned

Desired Background

  • Currently enrolled in Bachelor's level program in Computer Science or related area
  • Current overall cumulative GPA 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)
  • Exposure to Java, Javascript, Groovy, SQL, Grails, or JSP
  • Exploration with tools like Git/Github, Chef, Artifactory, HipChat, Jenkins, Gradle or similar
  • Have taken Data Structures or Advanced OO Programming
  • Have taken at least one database course
  • Ability to adapt to and work with numerous functional organizations
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented
