The Performance Materials segment includes filtration media solutions for air, fluid power, and industrial applications, gasket materials for heavy equipment and industrial applications, thermal insulation for building products, appliances, and energy and transportation markets, and specialty materials sold into a variety of industries and applications. The Performance Materials business segment employs approximately ~900 employees and operates in Iowa, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, New York, France, Germany, The Netherlands and India.

Job Summary:  

The electronics technician conducts, maintains, tests and repairs electrical/electronic, PLC, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and components. The position applies knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment to operation. Provides support to all areas of manufacturing.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with all safety and maintenance procedures and practices.

  • Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, hydraulic, PLC, pneumatic and electrical/electronic equipment, including programmable controls, numeral controls, power supplies, drives, gauges and test equipment.

  • Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical theories and principles, writing specifications, local and national electrical codes, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of electronic equipment.

  • Installs, starts up and shuts down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown and in line with OSHA requirements.

  • Advises operators and line mechanics of operation procedures and requirements for working safely with electrical/electronic and mechanical equipment and components.

  • Informs appropriate management and line mechanics of potential electrical/mechanical problems and inherent dangers involved.

  • Maintains company-required performance and maintenance records for identified equipment.

  • Performs preventive maintenance functions as directed.

  • Assists electrical personnel with troubleshooting and repairing all production/facilities equipment



  • Must adhere to all company and location policies and safety rules

  • Must be able to work extended hours when required

Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities Required for Consideration as a Candidate:

(If a degree is required it must be from an accredited institution)

  • Two-year technical degree or accredited apprenticeship program or the equivalent in a technical field.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of proven experience in the electrical/electronics, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic fields.

  • Three (3) years’ computer experience/operation and PLC programming.

  • Requires knowledge of AC and DC motor drives, Allen Bradley PLCs (Micro Logix, PLC5, SLC500, Control Logix), iFIX, Panel View Plus, HMI programming, plant networks, I/O, PLC ladder logic programming, etc.Ability to quickly learn similar systems and applications.

  • High voltage power distribution requirements and safety procedures.

  • Excellent communication and team skills.

  • Proficient with standard MS Office software.

Additional Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Arc Flash Safety Training Certificate preferred.
