Description

The City of Lansing is seeking a full-time dynamic Human Resources Administrative Assistant who is strategic, dedicated, hands-on to provide a full range of HR support. This is a great opportunity for someone wanting to take their skills to the next level to contribute to the success of the department and organization.

This role is critical in providing outstanding internal and external customer support and driving HR functional excellence and process improvement. The ideal candidate will have the ability to ensure high quality performance and timely administration of operational HR processes.  The City offers a competitive wage and benefit package including paid vacation, sick and holiday leave. 

Position responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Supports multiple professionals in a wide range of HR discipline areas; requiring the need to prioritize, multi-task, and seamlessly shift priorities as required.
  • Processing routine HR matters including but not limited to conducting background checks, scheduling interviews, corresponding with applicants, entering and updating information into the City’s Applicant Tracking System; assist with recruitment activities.
  • Assembles selection process materials, and prepares selection processes for closing and storage.
  • Photocopying, scanning, filing, printing, ordering supplies, preparing and distributing written materials.
  • Assists HR Director with special projects.
  • Maintains and updates personnel files and actions.
  • Writes a wide range of letters, reports, and other correspondence
  • Assists HR/Finance Receptionist with answering telephone calls and directing callers and visitors to appropriate location or person.

Basic Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Associate’s Degree in Business or Human Resources Administration or a related field.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Administration is preferred.
  • Two (2) years of human resources experience
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
  • Four (4) years of administrative assistance experience
  • Ability to type 50 wpm with accuracy
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
