Description

The City of Lansing is seeking a highly organized, customer service focused individual to join our team as a full-time Human Resources/Finance Receptionist. The successful candidate will demonstrate effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills; have the ability to maintain professionalism, diplomacy and tact; maintain confidential information; establish and manage relationships to build trust; and support the advancement of diversity and inclusion in the organization.

Position responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Greets persons entering departments in a professional, friendly, and hospitable manner.
  • Provides general support with a variety of clerical activities.
  • Serves as the primary phone receptionist for the HR and Finance departments.
  • Maintains the calendars of the HR Director and Finance Director.
  • Schedules meetings and coordinates calendars for HR department staff.
  • Types letters, memorandums, schedules, reports, forms, and other documentation.
  • Collects and documents department staff leave slips on departmental calendar.
  • Provides ancillary back up assistance to other Department of Human Resources disciplines; including but not limited to: Employee and Labor Relations, Payroll and Benefits, Recruitment, and Safety and Wellness.
  • Keeps office supply inventory and orders supplies.

Basic Qualifications and Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Associate’s degree in Business Administration or Human Resources preferred.
  • Two years of increasingly responsible related receptionist experience.
  • One year of Human Resources-related experience preferred.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
  • Intermediate expertise with Microsoft Office software required, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Publisher.
