SENIOR ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE  (Healthcare)

Porter Novelli is a global public relations company with an immediate need for a Senior Account Executive to work on the Global Health and Social Impact team in our Washington, D.C. office. This position is responsible for planning and executing activities on behalf of clients under the direction of a senior manager. Senior Account Executives are expected to be able to plan and execute activities for clients in a timely, efficient, and high quality manner. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Planning and executing consumer, healthcare provider, advocacy and payor-targeted public relations programs and events on behalf of clients.

  • Developing strategies, providing counsel, implementing programs and managing client budgets.

  • Researching and analyzing industry and competitor trends and providing insightful recommendations to team and client.

  • Providing direction and feedback to multiple junior staff in daily and ongoing responsibilities; mentoring them to grow within the team, the Agency and the industry.

  • Conducting media relations efforts (proactive and reactive) including development of media strategies and media list development, pitching (local and national), and developing strong relationships with both traditional and social media.

  • Delivering consistently high-level client service; demonstrating initiative, accountability and reliability.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Ability to develop public relations materials including well-written data and consumer oriented press releases, fact sheets, recommendations memos and PR update presentations.

  • Ability to edit, in a thorough and timely fashion and with minimal edits from Supervisor, core press materials (e.g., fact sheets, bios) and client facing documents developed by junior staff.

  • Strong written and verbal skills, confident style in communicating with clients, and a proven ability to effectively organize and manage multiple tasks.

  • Thorough understanding of the healthcare social media environment and ability to provide counsel in the changing regulatory environment.

  • Exceptional critical thinking, creative problem solving, project/team/fiscal account management and coaching skills.

  • Must be deadline and detail-oriented and exhibit initiative, autonomy and accountability with respect to their responsibilities.

  • Ability to work well with others in both team and independent environments.

  • Positive, professional, and flexible attitude that lends itself to quality client service.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 3 years experience in a public relations agency or related environment with relevant healthcare account experience. Preferred experience with diverse client mix, including pharmaceutical, over-the-counter, and direct-to-consumer product marketing and government accounts.  

  • Experience with pharmaceutical data and regulatory milestones (both globally and in the US), issues management and event planning are particularly relevant for this position.

  • College Degree
