Our Corporate team in our Cambridge Division is currently looking for a bright, ambitious Articling Student (10 Month Position) who enjoys team work and on-going challenging projects.
The successful candidate will assist the lawyers within the ATS Legal Department in performing certain assigned tasks, and contribute towards delivering timely and quality legal services.Specifically, the successful candidate may be asked to assist ATS’s internal lawyers in relation to the following:
meeting and corresponding with internal clients
drafting, reviewing, and revising non-disclosure, customer, partner, subcontractor and supplier contracts
reviewing customer RFPs and purchase orders, ATS proposals, and drafting purchase order acknowledgement letters to customers (battle of the forms)
corporate subsidiary management
intercompany agreements and related documents (which may include commercial leases)
mergers and acquisitions
intellectual property rights management and enforcement
corporate compliance (including drafting and refining corporate policies and conducting internal training)
risk assessments and risk management
internal audits and liaising with external auditors
meeting and corresponding with external legal counsel
Travel may be required from time to time.
The successful candidate will be expected to exhibit uncompromising integrity and commitment to upholding corporate values, and the ATS Employee Code of Business Conduct.
Completion of a J.D or LL.B degree or receipt of an N.C.A. Certificate of Qualification
Registration in the Law Society of Upper Canada’s Lawyer Licensing Process
Preference will be given to candidates with the following skills and experience:
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral
Sound professional judgment and decision making ability, with good commercial awareness
Ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment and effectively manage several projects simultaneously
A keen eye for detail
A strong desire to learn
A proactive approach to work
Proficient with the use of information technology tools such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, etc.
