Driscoll Children’s Hospital is seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and creative Chaplain for fulltime duty, a commitment which includes 0800-1700, Monday through Friday. It also includes on-call duty for providing 1/3 of coverage for 24/7/365 pastoral care coverage for the hospital. This Chaplain will become part of a pastoral care team which cares for the spiritual needs of our patients, families, and staff.
A successful candidate must work well with area clergy of all faiths and denominations; must work effectively as part of a departmental team as well as effectively collaborating with other health care professionals; shall be flexible to cover days and shifts as needed; certification by Association of Professional Chaplains or in the process of seeking certification which would be completed within two years of hiring.
Theological education from an accredited college or university which fulfills educational requirements for Board Certified Chaplain (BCC) in the Association of Professional Chaplains (Master of Divinity preferred)
Ecclesiastical endorsement by a faith group
Certification in the Association of Professional Chaplains or similar national certification organization within two years of hire
Active faith community or chaplaincy experience preferred
Satisfactory completion of 4 units of CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) or in the process, which fulfills clinical requirements for Board Certified Chaplain (BCC) in the Association of Professional Chaplains
Must have strong interpersonal and written/oral skills to interact effectively with patients, patient's families, visitors, hospital and medical staff
Spanish speaking preferred
Ability to safeguard confidences
Pediatric experience preferred
Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals, and values of Driscoll Children’s Hospital
