Call for Resumes: Land Sector Subject Matter Experts
Landesa helps the world’s poorest people gain land rights; reducing poverty and conflict, increasing economic activity, empowering women, strengthening food security, and improving environmental stewardship. It’s a big mission and it takes a team of talented, committed people to make it happen.
Landesa is currently seeking talented Land Sector Subject Matter Experts with skills and capacities in any of the following areas:
Land tenure and property rights
Women’s access and rights to land
Women’s Economic Empowerment
Land administration (land titling and registration, cadastral services)
Resolution of land disputes and related fields across diverse settings (food security, agricultural productivity, responsible land-based rural investment, corporate services and partnerships, and natural resource management)
Community land tenure systems
Smallholder and large-scale agriculture
Food security and resilience
Artisanal mining and experience working in extractives
Land law and policy
Land Use Planning
Share Benefit Modeling
Land Surveying and/or Fit for Purpose Technologies
Engagement with the international donor community (i.e. bilateral and multilateral donors such as USAID, MCC, US Department of State, DFID, the World Bank, the UN system, etc.)
Engagement with corporations around value chains
Corporate social responsibility
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
A deep commitment to the mission of a better, safer future for the world’s poorest people through secure access to land.
Strong analytical skills related to legal, economic and/or policy analysis
Ability to manage documents and correspondence, track and report on project labor, and carry out other administrative tasks efficiently, routinely, and in conformance to Landesa standards and procedures.
Ability to work collaboratively with a range of people at all levels, including from host country governmental and non-governmental organizations, the private sector, clients, donors, and grantors. Ability to demonstrated cross-cultural sensitivity, tact, and poise. Ability to lead and work collaboratively as a member of teams, regardless of role within team, including consensus building, communications, and leadership skills.
Ability to engage and lead in high-level legal and policy advocacy with legislators, government officials, multilateral representatives, and private sector leaders.
Preferred Education and Experience:
A minimum of a Master’s degree in a related field is required; i.e. international development, agricultural economics, economics, sociology, geography, anthropology, law, etc.
At least 5 years of experience of relevant international development work experience, engaging in policy research and in the design and implementation of projects, including significant focus on the types of thematic and geographic areas mentioned above.
Priority will be given to professionals with strong communications skills and a demonstrated ability to work at a distance and take on a variety of assignments with a quick learning curve.
Experience working in Latin America, Sub-Saharan Africa, Francophone Africa, and/or South Asia.
French, Spanish and/or Portuguese skills preferred; other language skills also welcome, such as Kiswahili and Hindi
