The Department of Political Science at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) invites applications for a tenure-track position in Public Policy at the rank of Assistant Professor. We are open to candidates studying a range of policy areas; candidates should demonstrate an active and rigorous research agenda in their chosen policy specialty. The successful candidate will excel in the classroom and seek ways to integrate their scholarship and teaching. Candidates should be prepared to teach undergraduate courses on U.S. public policy. Candidates who can also expand our course offerings in other areas such as public administration, race & ethnic politics, gender & politics, or urban/local politics would be desirable, as would candidates who could teach research methods or specialized courses in data analytics/science. The typical teaching load is three courses per semester, with the possibility of a course release per year for research after the first year through a competitive proposal process. A Ph.D. is preferred, but the College will consider ABDs if the degree will be granted by time of appointment. Applications received by September 13, 2019, will receive full consideration.
The Department of Political Science is a supportive and dynamic community of scholars and students. The Department has seven tenured or tenure-track members and is conducting searches this year for two additional tenure-track positions. Over 180 students major in Political Science, and another 130 major in the interdisciplinary International Studies program. The Department offers minors in public policy and pre-law which draw students from across a wide range of academic disciplines.
