Wave Life Sciences USA seeks an experienced and highly motivated Process Development Scientist to join its team of scientists in Cambridge, Massachusetts. This is an ideal position for an individual with a strong background in Oligonucleotide synthesis and analytical characterization and who thrives in a team-oriented, fast-paced, and cross-disciplinary biotech environment. The candidate will be responsible for Process Development synthesis, deprotection, and purification of oligonucleotides, as well as leading scientific teams focused on the optimization of processing and scale up of oligonucleotide synthesis methods. This candidate will contribute to all levels of research to support development of optimized nucleic acid therapies in multiple disease areas. Prior experience in industry in oligonucleotide synthesis is strongly preferred.
Synthesis of oligonucleotides, deprotection, purification, desalting and lyophilization of oligonucleotides to support projects in multiple disease areas.
Optimization and scale up of processing methods
Supports continuous improvement initiatives by identifying areas needing improvement, recommending strategies for improvement, and helping to implementing those strategies once approved
Ability to operate and maintain lab instruments such as AKTA synthesizers, purifiers and HPLC and LC-MS
Conduct laboratory work in safe, efficient manner that ensures a safe working environment for colleagues
Familiarity with pre-clinical drug development and IND-enabling phase of therapeutic programs
Collaborative team player who is also proficient at leading projects and motivating teams
Capacity to be highly productive in a fluid and fast-paced work environment
PhD in Chemistry, science or engineering with at least 3-5 years of experience in industry environment OR MS in Chemistry or related discipline with at least 3 years of experience in industry environment. (BS 5 Years)
Strong knowledge of Oligonucleotide Synthesis, Deprotection and Purification techniques
Experience in scale up and technology transfer of processing
Experience with the AKTA line of synthesizers
Familiarity with analytical techniques and data interpretation HPLC, LC-MS, UV-Vis
