POSITION:             Staff Accountant

DEPARTMENT:     Finance

POSITION SUMMARY:

Performs senior analytical, technical and administrative accounting work in maintaining WildTangent’s fiscal records and systems.  Reports to the Controller in the Finance department.
 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs revenue recognition, process payroll, month end closing, general accounting, and other related duties. 
  • Works in a deadline driven environment, and when the situation demands, puts in longer hours to complete projects. 

  Job functions include, but are not limited to the following:  

  • Revenue - Recognition and Invoicing.
    • Calculates and books ad revenue accruals.
    • Calculates Recognize revenue.
    • Reviews monthly reports and compares to IO and calculates actual recognized revenue base on GAAP rules.
    • Invoice approvals – reviews all invoices generated for current month campaign activity.
    • Revenue Reconciliation – compares actual recognized revenue with accrual and do JE for difference.
    • MMO/net revenue recognition, billing and collection
  • Collections – Monitors and collects past due accounts.
    • Maintains a record of information about financial status of customer and status of collection efforts.
    • Sends collection statements and past due invoices.
    • Reconciles discrepancies with customer by telephone or email.
  • Payroll – Preparation and processing of payroll for two companies.
    • Monitors and oversees ADP systems for time card entry and vacation tracking.
    • Completes/Calculates payroll journal entry bi-monthly.
    • Calculates and submits 401k, Flex Plan, and Garnishments bi-monthly.
    • Calculates and submits L&I paperwork quarterly.
    • Headcount Journal Entry.
    • Duties related to calendar year end payroll:
    • Employee W2’s
    • Calendar year end survey’s/reporting for ADP, 401k, etc.
  • Financial Reporting
    • Monthly Journal Entries
    • Financial Statement Preparation and Analysis
    • Performs budget variance analysis.
  • Other
    • Prepares and submits B&O/VAT returns.
    • Assists with annual Audits.
    • Other duties, as assigned.

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related area, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Requires 3+ years of general, progressive accounting experience. (CPA a plus)
  • Proficiency with MS Windows Office Suite (Word, advanced Excel, Outlook).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

·     Technical accounting knowledge including general ledger and revenue recognition rules.

  • Working knowledge of payroll, accounts receivable and accounts payable functions.·        
  • Demonstrates great attention to detail.
  • Ability to be analytical and solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly motivated, self-starting individual with the desire to take ownership of his or her responsibilities.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of people at all organizational levels, as well as outside of WildTangent.
  •   Must be a team player.
  • Capable of working on multiple projects and teams within tight deadlines.
  • Effective time management skill.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with all levels of staff.

 

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience using Dynamics Great Plains and Management Reporter software is desired.
  • Experience using ADP is desired.

This is a standard office work environment.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to do the following:

  • Must be able to work with computers in stationary position for long periods of time. Job spends majority of time performing repetitive motions related to the use of personal computers.
  • Must be able to use phone, PC monitor, mouse, and keyboard for extended periods of time in order to complete assigned tasks and duties.
  • Must be able to use copier/fax machine on an intermittent basis.
  • Regularly required to talk or hear.
  • Frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee may frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
