Job Title: Biological Safety Officer
Location: Duarte, CA
Administers the Biological Safety Program and ensures that institutional policies and procedures comply with all applicable governmental and accrediting agency regulations and standards.

13. Monitors and maintains quality control guidelines established within department.
14. Compiles data for and prepares regularly scheduled or special reports, analyses and statements.
15. Assists in the education of students or staff.
16. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
17. Attends Institutional Biosafety (IBC) and Occupational Safety and Biohazard (OSBC) Committee meetings.
Minimum Education and Experience: Masters degree in Biological Science-related field. M.D. or Ph.D. preferred. 5 years of combined Health, Safety, and Biosafety experience. Experience may substitute for minimum education requirements. Supervisory experience preferred.
Pref. Certification/Licensure: Member of (or will become member of) American Biological Safety Association
Requirements: Familiar with NIH, CDC, and California Biosafety Guidelines and Regulations.
Skills/Aptitude: Detail oriented. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Input data into computer programs. Use computer packages. Use word-processing software. Foster and promote a positive image and professional appearance
Software: Word-processing required
Machines/Equip: Req./Pref.: Air monitoring equipment. Self Contained Breathing Apparatus and other respiratory protective equipement.
Working/Environmental Conditions: Potential exposure to microbiological hazards. Occasional prolonged standing/walking. Lifts supplies/equipment. Occasional reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching
Communication: Excellent oral/written communication and organizational skills
