|Work Hours:||7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.|
Duties: Responsible for accuracy reading and recording water consumption of water meters. Report to supervisor the condition of meters needing service repair, illegal service connections, and related problems. Perform customer service and meter rereads with verification of possible water leaks. The job requires considerable walking, bending, stooping, lifting meter lids and manhole covers weighing between five(5) and twenty-five (25) pounds. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: High school graduate or equivalent with at least six (6) months experience in utility meter reading or related operations. Must possess a valid State of Mississippi driver's license, knowledge of the geography and street locations of the City is helpful. Must have physical strength sufficient to work outdoors for extended periods and occasionally under adverse weather conditions.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT FOR CITY EMPLOYEES: Within six (6) months from date of employment, must establish residency within the City of Jackson.
PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT, APPLICANT RECOMMENDED FOR EMPLOYMENT SHALL BE REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY PASS A URINALYSIS AND/OR BLOOD TEST TO SCREEN FOR ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUG ABUSE.
