Assistant Utilities Service Manager

Description

Duties: Essential responsibilities and duties may include, but not limited to, the following; Assume management responsibility for all service and activities of a utility customer service office. Assist the Utilities Service Manager with overall management activities of the Water/Sewer Business Administration. Assist management and participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for assigned programs including water and sewer utility service, and meter reading services; recommend, within departmental policy, appropriate service and staffing levels; recommend and administer policies and procedures. Continuously monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures; assess monitor workload, administrative and support system, and internal reporting relationships, identify opportunities for improvement and review with the Utilities Service Manager; implement improvements. Participate in the selection of staff, provide staff training, motivate and evaluate the Water/Sewer Business Administration Division and termination procedures. 

 

Qualifications: Three years of increasingly responsible experience in the city water and sewer utility management, including four years of administration or supervisory responsibility. Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting, business administration, the management or a related field. 

 

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT FOR CITY EMPLOYEES:

Within six (6) months from date of employment, must establish residency within the City of Jackson.

PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT, APPLICANT RECOMMENDED FOR EMPLOYMENT SHALL BE REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY PASS A URINALYSIS AND/OR BLOOD TEST TO SCREEN FOR ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUG ABUSE.
