Animal Control Manager
|Pay Minimum:||$14.555 Hourly|
|Work Hours:||8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.|
Duties: Assume management responsibilities for all service and activities of the Animal Control Division; manage and participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for assigned services and activities including enforcing ordinances pertaining to animals, overseeing the humane care of all animals and testifying in court when there is a violation; recommend, within departmental policy, appropriate service and staffing levels; recommend and administer policies and procedures continuously monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures; asses and monitor workload, administrative and support systems and internal reporting relationships; identify opportunities for improvement and review with the assigned Deputy Chief; implement improvements.
Qualifications: Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree with major course work in public health, animal science, or a related field. Possession of or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver's license. Possession of, or ability to obtain, a quarterly, Shooting Range Certificate administered by the City of Jackson Police Department.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT FOR CITY EMPLOYEES:
Within six (6) months from date of employment, must establish residency within the City of Jackson.
PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT, APPLICANT RECOMMENDED FOR EMPLOYMENT SHALL BE REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY PASS A URINALYSIS AND/OR BLOOD TEST TO SCREEN FOR ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUG ABUSE.
